Privacy statement
This website collects as little as possible. Below is what does happen with data, why, and how long we keep it.
Who is responsible
TripleHosting. You can reach us at hello@triplehosting.net.
What data we process
Contact form
If you fill in the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your company or brand (if you enter it), the topics you tick and your message. The form sends this as an email to our own mail server. The website itself does not store the content. We use the data to reply to your message.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), namely being able to answer your question.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter, we first send you an email with a link to confirm your sign-up. Until you confirm, we do not store your address anywhere: it only exists in that email. If you do not confirm within three days, the link expires.
After you confirm, we keep your email address, your language and the time you signed up and confirmed. We keep that time so we can show that you gave your consent. This data is stored in our newsletter software (Listmonk) on our own server, and the newsletter is sent through our own mail server.
We can see whether you open a newsletter and which links you click. This works through a small, invisible image in the email and because links pass through our newsletter server. We use this to check that messages arrive and to see which topics readers find interesting. If you block images in your email program, opening is not recorded.
Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe. After that we no longer send you the newsletter. We then keep only your email address with a note that you have unsubscribed, so you do not get mail from us again by mistake.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time.
Protecting the forms against abuse
We do not use an external captcha service. When you tick “I am human”, your browser runs a small calculation. Nothing is sent to third parties. To limit abuse we count how many messages come from the same IP address per hour, and for the newsletter also how often the same email address is entered. For that we keep a hashed form of the IP address and the email address that cannot be turned back into the address itself. That data is cleaned up after about two hours.
Server logs
Our servers record the IP address, the page, the time and the browser for every request. We use this for security and to find faults. The logs are deleted after at most four weeks.
What does not happen
This website sets no cookies, keeps no visitor statistics, loads no fonts, scripts or images from outside parties, uses no advertising or tracking services and does not share your data with third parties.
Retention
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Message from the contact form (email) | As long as needed to handle it, then deleted |
| Unconfirmed newsletter sign-up | Not stored; the link in the confirmation email expires after three days |
| Newsletter data (email address, language, time of sign-up and confirmation) and whether you open messages | As long as you are on the newsletter |
| Email address after unsubscribing | As long as needed to stop sending you the newsletter |
| Hashed IP address and email address for abuse limiting | About two hours |
| Server logs | At most four weeks |
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, for correction, for deletion, for restriction of processing and to receive your data in a common format. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interest. Email your request to hello@triplehosting.net. We reply within 30 days.
If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
